Spain

Spain was in great power during this time; in fact, it had the strongest military in the world.

Spain, however did have a weak point, or disadvantage.  Without gold and other riches, Spain could not continue to thrive the way it was.  If you could stop the income of gold going to the nation, you could stop most of the main threat.

From certain parts of England, ships were sent out to capture Spanish ships and take their loot.  There was other cargo aboard the Spanish ships, however.  So much sugar was stolen that new desserts and treats were created every day.

Then, Spain started making huge groups of ships that travelled together to make it harder to capture their cargo.  Each convoy was also accompanied by massive war ships.  They worked their way across the oceans in zig zag patterns to cofuse pursuers.

Their plan worked; much fewer ships were captured and the queen began to lose power.

The Spanish, however, had not thought about anything happening like Sir Walter Raleigh.
